ALIGARH CALLING was a great reliever for all of us. By reminiscing long past and recent past, we all will treasure the trip till we meet again. And keeping every thought of friendship aside being cliché, we all know that – there is no friend like an old friend. Happy relieving for the group called YE PAAL DOSTI KE which have been collated with the sensational song from the movie WAR that we saw together on 6 October in New Delhi.
BACK TO UNIV DAYS I ALIGARH CALLING
The passage of time may reposition us, change us, sidetrack us, and even make us lose track of one another from the daily life kind of way. But there is no denying fact that the special bonding among close friends live forever. To reminisce the past, I give it a name “Aligarh Calling”.
Yes, our friendship has traveled disconnectedly for more than 2 decades already. Now is the time to meet old buddies. It’s a great occasion to reunite with Univ days friends in India from different parts of the globe. Folks from Australia, Bangladesh, India and New Zealand will be joining to celebrate the lighter side of life from October 5 to 9, 2019.
Initially it supposed to be a substantial gathering but later it has settled down to few numbers. Big thanks to those friends who would make it possible to come this far out of their busy schedule. I thank personally Jewel, Mariyam, Mubin, Rehana and Sharif for their spontaneity and co-operation all the way to make it happen. Kudos to all of you. They are the true inspiration for me to write this article. Having said that I’ll miss my other friends whom I knew from Alig days but wouldn’t make it due to their prior engagement with family and profession.
BACKDROP OF ALIGARH TRIP I ALIGARH CALLING
My best friend Rehana and her family from New Zealand had planned lot earlier to visit India to celebrate 50 years’ of marriage anniversary of her parents. It’s a dream tour for them to be in India for the first time. So, this was an alibi to have a reunion for all of us to be in India where bat and ball collide together seemingly. From then, another best friend of mine Mariyam, a Delhiite now, took over everything to make our reunion happen. It’s always good to have an unconditional friend like her in the group. It really keeps the group live and kicking. I really feel proud to announce that Rehana and Mariyam are my bestest buddies from Alig days till now.
IMAGE OF COMMERCE DEPARTMENT
Fortunately our commerce department used to be one of the departments in Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) apart from Arts Faculty (limited to few departments) that had co-education system being the mainstream Muslim University of India. It means boys and girls had their classes in the same classroom. Thus every other friend of us from other department was real envious because they used to follow old tradition by having separated class rooms. Truthfully confessing, Commerce Department of AMU had all pretty girls around, I bet. Our friends from other department used to come and hang around in the proximity of our department to see girls with mischievous look on the faces. It was like befriends with strangers but in reality id didn’t happen that way.
BUDDIES
Special thanks in advance to Mubin for attending the re-union all the way from Australia. Mubin used to be a Macho Man with ever smiley faces around. He’ll come to Dhaka in early October for his personal prior engagement. Jewel and Sharif used to be my good mates in Alig days and we all have so many sociable memories of hangouts in Aligarh. Amazingly we 4 boys will be flying together on a direct flight from Dhaka on 5th to Delhi and return together on the same route on 9th. I’m really looking forward to this memorable trip for making it more cherish able than ever. Putting altogether by reminiscing long past and recent past, we will treasure the trip till we meet again. And keeping every thought of friendship aside being cliché, we all know that – There is no friend like an old friend.
