Once upon a winter of Albertan Canada, I had been to Nosehill, great walking trails. It’s full of hiking paths on a variety of surfaces – from asphalt to dirt to grass – and off-leash dog areas. Parts of the park contain native grasslands, one of the few examples left on the prairies. I only covered just one of the trails out of 60km of designated walking trails.
4th Largest Urban Park of Canada
In the cold winter of Calgary in 2016, I walked almost 7.6km+ (uphill and downhill) with 3 layers of warm clothes and accessories to get the panoramic view of Canadian Rockies from Nose Hill Park which I referred in my earlier post about the first site of Rockies.
Loving Nose Hill Park for the huge sense of space that gives me in a big city. I love the expansive views as this park sits at a height of land in northwest Calgary. From the top, not only do you get great views of downtown Calgary but also of the Canadian Rockies. On the other hand, I love the sound of cold breezes and the smell of the grasslands up here. And it’s always fascinating to see wildlife running wild and free. I just loved every moment of my exploration.
Photography with Absolute Pleasure
It offered me a breathtaking view and I spent almost 3 hours all alone by myself. I halted every possible spot through the trails. Meanwhile, I had taken photographs of nature and the creature with full satisfaction. For example, spotting Coyote, Hawks, and grassland birds were fascinating which gave me absolute pleasure out of this hour of exploration.
It is Calgary’s landmark that has been used by native people for their daily morning or evening work out. From a particular viewpoint, the total landscape of downtown Calgary had mesmerized me with the colors of buildings and topography of the land. It’s worth visiting the great walking trails through Nose Hill which perhaps to be one of the largest urban parks in North America. Above all, if you visit Calgary, this is a must-visit place for the commoner.
